Maths enrichment :3
Let’s see today’s new trick
The vedic sutra is
निखिलम् नवतः चरम् दशत: I
All from 9 and last from 10
नउमधून सगळं आणि दहमधून शेवटचे
Today we will understand the concept of complement:
Complement means number bonds with respect to base number
Like : complement of 7 is 3
Complement of 9 is 1
Complement of 10 is 0
Complement of 4 is 6
All above are with respect to 10
If we want to find complement with respect to 9 then:
Complement of 8 is 1
Complement of 4 is 5
If we want to find the complement of 2,3,4 or more digit numbers then see the following method:
sutra ‘all from 9 and last from 10’
To find complement of 27
Last digit here is 7,hence take complement with respect to 10 that is 3
Next digit is 2,use complement with respect to 9 that is 7
Hence complement of 27 is 73
#when you find complement of number , repeat the sutra in your mind
Let’s find the complement of 641
Complement of last digit = 9 (with respect to 10)
Complement of remaining digits = 35( with respect to 9)
Hence complement of 641 is 359
Example1; find the complement of
6521, using sutra
Complement of 1with respect to 10
= 9
Complement of remaining numbers with respect to 9 =347
Hence the complement of 6521 is
3479
Example 2: let’s find the complement of following:
8769 : 1231
34652 : 65348
10250 : 89750,here note that complement rule starts from 5,hence when my number ends with 0,it’s complement is also zero and rule starts from 5.
Now ,it’s clear that when we use complement rule ,we don’t need to do subtraction
1000-368 = 632 ( by directly using the sutra)
Subtract 100000-23455. = 76545
It’s so easy!!! We can do orally!!
Now try following examples
1) 1000-569
2)100000-21458
3)10000-5942
4)1000000 – 512069
5)1000000 -. 200154
